Keertan Rang
A Bharatanatyam Recital Rooted in Marathi Abhangas
Maharashtra’s devotional heart beats in its Abhangas — rhythmic verses born from the ecstatic bhakti of poet-saints like Tukaram, Namdev, Eknath, and Janabai. These are not songs to be merely heard. They are prayers to be lived. KEERTAN RANG is Apeksha Niranjan’s deeply personal exploration of this sacred tradition, bringing the spirit of Maharashtra’s Warkari saints into the expressive vocabulary of Bharatanatyam.
The word Keertan refers to devotional chanting — a practice where the name of the divine is repeated until the boundary between singer and god dissolves. Rang means colour — the vivid, joyous hue of devotion in full bloom. KEERTAN RANG is exactly that: a performance saturated with colour, rhythm, and the raw, unfiltered love of a devotee for the divine.
Apeksha has spent years researching Marathi Abhangas — studying their poetry, their musical structures, their spiritual intent — and weaving them into Bharatanatyam in a way that preserves both traditions intact. The result is a recital that feels ancient and immediate at once: every gesture a prayer, every footfall a heartbeat of faith.
